Camp County EMS is based in beautiful Pittsburg,
Texas. Pittsburg is located in the Heart of Northeast Texas
mid way between Dallas and Shreveport 12 miles south of Interstate
30 on US Hwy271. The area is called "Great Lakes Country"
due to the abundance of area lakes.
Pittsburg is a small town founded in 1855 with a
historic past. Pittsburg was named a Texas Main Street city in 1986
that has resulted in over $4 million in down town improvements and
renovations.
Pittsburg has become a home for many persons retiring
from larger cities such as Dallas. One of the things that makes
Pittsburg a attractive place to live is the small town life that
is still very close to larger towns such as Tyler and Longview.
The Pittsburg
Independent School District ranks among the states finest,
it has a low student to teacher ratio, and it consistently receives
recognition for academic achievement as well as strong sports teams.
The school district has become a model for many other Texas schools.
Northeast
Texas Community College is located 11 miles northeast of
Pittsburg. NTCC has become one of the top community colleges in
the nation and like PISD, provides a low student to instructor ratio.
Pittsburg is home to several major industries. Pilgrims
Pride Corporation, the third largest poultry producer in
the US is based in Pittsburg and is in the process of constructing
one of the largest freezer plants and poultry processing plants
in the nation. Other major area industries are Henderson Manufacturing,
Andritz-Ruthner, Lone Star Steel, Texas Utilities
Generating Company and Texas Utilities Mining Company.
Whether you are looking for a great place to raise
a family, a place to retire, or a stop on the family vacation, Pittsburg
seems to have what people are looking for.
